WHY GIVE TO THE DOOR COUNTY
COMMUNITY FOUNDATION?

Door County is a special place that has given you joy and added value to your life. You want to give back to this community you love.

You can combine your personal charitable and estate planning goals with an effective grant making program. Our Foundation has the vision, experience and skills to help you build your charitable legacy.

The DCCF can offer you:

Permanance
Your gift will benefit Door County in perpetuity.

Flexibility
Your gift may be established for unrestricted purposes to respond to future needs that cannot be predicted today. Your gift may be directed to a particular field of interest, to a variety of specific organizations, or to individuals for scholarships. You may be actively involved in the granting process.

Simplicity
One contribution can address a number of different opportunities and any number of charitable organizations in our area. You can be spared the burden of dividing appreciated securities among several recipients, investigating numerous requests, monitoring programs, and record keeping.

Tax Savings
Because the DCCF is a public charity, you will enjoy maximum tax advantages for income, capital gains, gift and estate tax purposes.

Public Accountability
The DCCF makes a full accounting to the community through annual reports which include financial statements certified by independent auditors.

Professional Management
The DCCF provides sound investment management. Economies of scale are realized as many gifts are pooled for investment purposes. The Board of Directors employes a professional staff; experienced and knowledgeable about the charitable opportunities in our area.

We are ready to work with you, your attorney, and financial advisors as you develop a philanthropic program.

Inspiring People to Give Back to Sustain the Community We Love.
David Spude Endowment Fund, “Dave personified what it meant to be true to your local community. After nearly forty years he was fortunate to retire to his beloved Door County. This endowment is here to remind us to pursue continuous improvement through charitable works, as Dave would have loved to have done, had time allowed.”  David Doerr.

As a tribute to David, the Spude and Doerr family  and the Door County Memorial Hospital Foundation established the David L. Spude Endowment Fund in the Door County Community Foundation to perpetually benefit the Door County Cancer Center. This endowment fund will help to insure that a full complement of cancer treatments will be available and affordable for all Door County residents and visitors who need it for generations to come.

As David’s life was ending, he wrote to his family and friends “Every day of life is to be cherished and a gift of God. Don’t waste them.”

A GIVING SPIRIT: SUSTAINING DOOR COUNTY

The Legacy Society

The Legacy Society recognizes donors who with a giving spirit have the vision, caring and commitment to our community and want to create a lasting charitable legacy through the Door County Community Foundation. They understand our community will need their support long after they are gone – and they have the foresight to include the DCCF in their estate or financial plans.

These individuals and families have made the Foundation aware that it will be the beneficiary of a bequest. You may also want to name the Foundation in your will. Please consider designating a percentage, specific dollar amount or remainder of your estate to the Foundation.
"I want to give back to this community which I feel has done so much for me. The Door County Community Foundation seems to fill that function so well."
Lee Traven
